Chunky lapis lazuli choker statement necklace made with bold dark blue lapis nuggets in various sizes framed with tibetan silver disc beads. I also used dark red coral nuggets for contrasting color. This luscious necklace is a big bold statement and has brilliant color. The length is 17 1/2 inches and it is finished with a Tibetan silver "S" clasp. This is my original design and unique, definitely a 'wow' factor and a little on the heavy side.

Lapis Lazuli is a luminous, deep blue gemstone, sometimes colored with a hint of violet and gold speckles! It is a powerful stone of wisdom that strengthens a person's expression and intuition, and promotes tranquility. The awareness it imparts aids in accessing ancient knowledge and is also used as a protection stone. In ancient Egypt lapis lazuli was a favorite stone for amulets and ornaments such as scarabs; it was also used by the Assyrians and Babylonians for seals. Lapis jewelry has been found at excavations of the Predynastic Egyptian site Naqada (3300–3100 BC), and powdered lapis was used as eyeshadow by Cleopatra. At the end of the Middle Ages, lapis lazuli began to be exported to Europe, where it was ground into powder and made into ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments. It was used by the most important artists of the Renaissance and Baroque, including Masaccio, Perugino, Titian and Vermeer.
The color of coral can vary from white to black, but the most valued colors are pink and red. It is associated with Venus and Neptune and promotes love and harmony. It is also useful in clearing negative energies and providing protection.
